During the 19th National Meeting of the Lithiasis, Endourology and Robotics Groups organised by the Spanish Urological Association on 24 and 25 January in Palma de Mallorca, Dr Jaime Fernández-Concha was recognised on behalf of the research team for the Multicenter, Controlled and Randomized clinical trial on urinary pH monitoring and nutraceutical intervention in the prevention of ureteral stent calcification, with the Pedro Arregui Award for the best scientific poster communication.
Apart from Dr Fernández-Concha, doctors s Carlos Torrecilla (Bellvitge University Hospital), José Ramón Cansino and Juan Antonio Mainez (La Paz University Hospital), José Amón and Simbad Costas (Río Hortega University Hospital), Oriol Angerri and Esteban Emiliani (Puigvert Foundation), Miguel Ángel Arrabal Martin and Miguel Ángel Arrabal Polo (San Cecilio University Hospital), Ana Garcia and Carlos Reina (Valme University Hospital), Juan Francisco Sánchez (Álvaro Cunqueiro Hospital), Alberto Budía (La Fe University Hospital), Daniel Pérez-Fentes (Santiago de Compostela University Hospital) y Félix Grases and Antonia Costa-Bauzá (Lithiasis Laboratory of the University of the Balearic Islands) were also co-authors.
The “Double J” study sponsored by Devicare is a pioneering trial at the international level and responds to an unresolved medical need which affects an important part of patients with urolithiasis. The final results were presented for the first time during this scientific event. The award will be presented in the European Association of Urology Congress to be held in Barcelona this March.[:]
