Metiofitina® is the association of L-methionine, an acidifier of the pH of the urine, and of the phytate, to reduce the concentration of iron in the urine. This specific association of ingredients allows to improve antibiotic activity through a higher concentration of antibiotic in urine and to promote its bioactive chemical form, in particular from the following antibiotics: Tetracycline, Doxycycline, Cefotaxime, Cefalotine, Cefazolin, Ceftazidima, Piperacillin, Ampicillin, Nitrofurantoin, Fosphomycin and Methenamine hipurate.
Infection and bacteriuria are associated with neutral pH to alkaline which undermines the efficacy of certain antibiotics. Metiofytin® promotes the production of a urine with low pH, improves the effectiveness of acidophilic antibiotics and reduces the generation of resistance to antibiotics. The phytates act as an iron chelator, making uropathogens more sensitive, as it is an essential nutrient for their survival and proliferation.
